Default Freeze on "Creating DAE objects"

This problem is killing me.

When I open Pro Tools it freezes at Creating DAE Objects. I've tried everything on General Troubleshooting. At first, when I would move all the plug-ins to the unused file and open up Pro Tools, then open it a second time with the plug-ins back to use it would start up. But now even that doesn't work, like it's getting worse. I haven't changed anything on my system for a long time, and PT was working brilliantly for a long time; then this started happening seemingly out of nowhere.

I'm on a Vista 32-bit PC. When PT freezes, the computer does not. But for some reason it won't let me close or "end process" PT; it just stays there "not responding" while everything else about the computer is working fine. So I have to restart the computer because PT is just there completely unresponsive.

HELLLPP MEEEHHH!! Any input is much appreciated.

Forgot to mention, I'm using the 003 Rack.

I've searched the DUC for this problem and some people have had similar issues, some on Mac systems and some with slightly different errors. But they haven't been resolved.

Thanks Tom! I do have it installed. I never thought to uninstall it because Pro Tools had been working great alongside IE8 since I first installed it. But I'll do that right now and see what happens.

At a glance your system looks pretty good. I bet it's the IE8 thing.

Default Re: Freeze on "Creating DAE objects"

Ok, weird. I uninstalled IE8 but it would still freeze at Creating DAE objects. So following that link you sent me I disabled Vista's DEP, restarted and launched PT successfully! But I wanted to check if it was a permanent and consistent fix so I restarted again and launched PT again. Now it froze on "Reading Preferences." And once again it won't even let me "end process" PT, I have to do a complete restart.

Any other ideas? Thanks again for your help.

I always run as administrator. And I've tried using a different firewire port too. No luck!
