Default Re: Advice Needed Re: AMD 6 Core Compatibility with PT10

There is some solid information on well tested systems. See philip888's response above.

And another quickie - if I'm not doing over-clocking (which I won't be), do I really need to get a separate cooler or will the CPU fan included in the processor (Intel Core i7-3820) be adequate?

Thanks in advance!

Default Lga 2011 run hot!!

if you're going lga2011, I HIGHLY recommend an ANTEC 920 KUHLER.. it comes with proper software to monitor & adjust on the fly right from your desktop.
also, the reason i went with a sabertooth is due to its thermal solution, along with 5 year warranty, it is US MILITARY GRADE CERTIFIED!!

anteC cooler solution is cheap.. like 100bucks or less... I managed to drop my temps by over 10 degrees with proper use of that suckah...
i have no idea what the oem temps are.. i'm sure they would be around the 54deg range on the cpu alone.. that is insane
hot when you start pushing it.. i have over clocked from 3.6Ghz to 4.3Ghz n' tested temps.. on CPU, i'm now sitting at 32deg w/out over clocking, 38deg. over clocked..
check vcore temps on pic as well..

i have a crapload of fans on my system though, i'm running a corsair carbide series 500r, currently 5 fans, two up front {provided with case},
two ZALMAN fans up top [one push, one pull], one exhaust on bottom.. all 120mm, one 200mm on the side wall {incl. with the case}...

only thing I would recommend is you toss the antec 920 fans {they are wayy to loud},
I picked up a pair of COUGAR VORTEX pwm 800-1500rpm fans on a push pull configuration..
they are way quieter and really help to bring temps down even further... they are made in Germany

max cpu temp is 90deg celcius... my setup will never exceed 43deg... i've easily added another 5 years of use to my system.. and it will fly!!

as mentioned before, i spared no expense, but did search high and low for the best deals possible..
