Moving playlists on same track together
Hi folks,
I'm looking for a way to move all playlists at together. For instance, if I move all my audio from bar 100 back to bar one, I want all my vocal playlists to move back, not just the one on top. Is this something that should be placed in the wishlist section? |

Daire. .
This is, unfortunately, something for the wish list I believe. . I find it very annoying that there isn't an "edits apply to all playlists" option in the pref's. . . Come on digi ! ! !

Re: Moving playlists on same track together
Obviously, for each playlist you can hit "Shift", for which you'd enter "earlier" and "100" bars. With keyboard shortcuts, this isn't that slow a process.
Unfortunately, the automation doesn't move. I haven't tried it, but is it possible to also "shift" the automation? Or would this require cut and paste?

Re: Moving playlists on same track together
Automation will move if two conditions are met:
1) “Automation Follows Edits” must be enabled in the “Options” menu. 2) The tracks you are editing must be in (one of) their “Master View.” From the PT 7.3 Reference Manual, Chapter 18, “Editing Basics,” pdf pg 338): Audio and MIDI tracks have Track Views that act as “master.” When a track is displayed in its master format, any edits performed apply to all data in the track. For instance, when an audio track is set to Waveform, copying and pasting affects not just the waveform information, but all of the automation data as well. The Track Views that act as master for audio and MIDI tracks are: • Audio tracks: Waveform and Blocks. • MIDI tracks: Regions, Blocks, and Notes (when using the Selector). • Auxiliary Input, Master Fader, and VCA Master tracks also have a Master View (Volume). When an Auxiliary Input or Master Fader track is displayed in its Master View, any edits performed apply to all automation data in the track. IHTH.

Re: Moving playlists on same track together
Hey, Daire.
What I usually do as a workaround is this: Let's say I've loop recorded 10 takes of vocals. I name the track "Lead Vocal" before recording to it. I stop recording, and this will leave the last take in the timeline, take # 10. I want to move and edit all vocal takes simultaneously. 1) Create 9 mono audio tracks. 2) Newly created tracks are highlighted, so I hold down Option-Shift while I turn off the voice on one of the tracks (set "Dyn" to "Off"). This is to save voices. 3) Click with the Selector tool exactly where the loop started. Alternately, place the cursor just before the region, and hit Tab. 4) In the region list, highlight the remaining regions "Lead Vocal" 1-9. 5) Control-drag the regions onto the topmost track you created in step 1. This command will place all regions exactly where you defined it in step 3. 6) Now that you have all ten takes in the timeline you select them all, and make a region group. Now you can edit and move all ten takes together. It takes a while to write down this procedure, but it's done in seconds.

Adjust session start ! (ctrl 2) and use "keep relative position" and "adjust to timecode" to move it as you wish. :) |
