My clients have yet to request an Atmos mix, but this is only a good thing for PTHD. We've been needing a more advanced I/O page, and wider busses for a long time. Even if you don't have an immediate need for Atmos, the ancillary improvements to Pro Tools will benefit everyone.

And with a $300 price tag, you've got money left over to buy a bunch more speakers and a JBL Intonato, right? :)

Sounds good, now I am hyped and ready to try it.

Hi

I bought it a few weeks ago.
But not for atmos. Just for encoding Prologic 2 and i also wanted to compare the binaural stuff to the other plugs I work with.

So far the plug works flawless with 12.7.1 and the atmos encoder (which is running in background) does not freeze my CPU. I find it light to the cpu. Dont know what happens when doing a real atmos mix.

It worked also on my old Macbook Pro 2010 without any problems with 12.7.1. Even there no crashes!!!

Installer does not allow to install on old systems. I had to install Sierra.
But everything works.

Ale

Hi,

If the up and coming protools supports Atmos what are the advantages in purchasing the Dolby Atmos Production Suite if supplied through a subscription.
does this this license come without the encoder hardware.

The JBL Intonato looks good for inputs outputs but I am thinking about a Genelec 9301 AES/EBU interface towards 7.1 sound.

I'm excited about this as well. I've read a few articles where mixers say that they will start mixing everything in atmos even if they're just delivering in 5.1. I'm really interested to see how that workflow will work and how the various deliverables will be created.

Sort of related... what is the difference between the JBL Intonato and Avid's MTRX?

Having no hands-on experience with either box, I can't give you details, but in general MTRX is an audio interface, and Intonato is a monitor controller. I don't think MTRX can do bass management or speaker time alignment, and I don't think Intonato can route multiple PT workstations' audio outputs. Both boxes exist to accomplish different tasks.

Does anyone know if there is a limit to channels, beds and objects for Atmos in this suite?
Thanx

I think is the same limit you have in the Atmos environment: 10 beds, 99 objects
