Custom Note Duration

I am Running Pro-Tools M-powered version 9.05, windows 7 64 bit. I cannot locate the "custom note duration" while working with the midi keyboard. I was always able to select this from the drop down menu by clicking and holding the pencil tool in Pro Tools 8. Has there been a change that I am unaware of???

I was hoping somebody would answer this authoritatively. I never used v8 - went straight from 7.3 to 9, so I can't comment on what it did in 8. All I know for sure is, the term "Custom Note Duration" occurs in the v8 and 9 Reference Guides only once (each), and that's in the Index at the end. There's one item under it (indented) called Follow Grid, which is about Default Note Duration. I'm not sure how Follow Grid is understood to be a kind of Custom Note Duration, nor how Default is equivalent to Custom. Maybe they removed that feature at some point for whatever confounding reason and left only that little virtual paper trail as a vestige in memorium.
