Default Compatibility - what is the issue?

I'm not here to start any arguments or anything, I was just piecing together the computer I hope to order by the end of the month, checking each part for compatibility.

For some reason I stopped and thought, why? I use other audio programs on multiple computers in multiple locations and multiple audio interfaces in a bunch of studios around British Columbia. There are some hiccups with everything, I admit. But what the hell is Protools' issues? Why can't it play nicely? We're now into version 8 - why hasn't compatibility been resolved by now?

Compatibility HAS been resolved. This isn't, and never will be , a "plug this into any old computer and it'll work" program. This is a powerful program that requires a powerful, SPECIFIC set of hardware. So there's TONS of information here on the DUC about what IS compatible, and just as much info about what ISN'T. Read the threads and you'll find all kinds of tips on what's compatible. But you can't "Cheap out" and expect good results.

All due respect sw, but that's astounding.
Compatibility has been resolved? This forum consists of 90 percent hardware/compatibility issues.
"A powerful program that requires..."
There are numerous powerful applications out there that do not have a fraction of the requirements that PTLE has.
The problem is old code and I believe Digi has admitted to that. But if you truly believe a powerful DAW has to be demanding/mind-numbingly picky from a hardware standpoint, you are mistaken.

I'm not trying to be cheap, I'm actually spending a buttload of cash on my new computer. There are plenty of awfully expensive components you can buy that would BSOD your ass before you even finish installing. I just think it's time they fixed it. The requirements are stricter than anything I've ever dealt with, unreasonably so. I was just asking if anyone knew what the problem was, not get all up in arms to defend digi. Unfortunately I love the software lol, I'm not leaving it.
