Default DSP Mix Management

I've got a PT24 system with three farm cards and have been doing some 10 track mixes and have just enough DSP power to do what I'd like. How are folks with approximately the same amount of DSP power managing their use of plug-ins in mixes of, say, 24 tracks? I'd love to hear any stratagies that mixers are using to optimize their DSP (i.e. submixing, bouncing, audiosuite, etc.).
Thanks for your input.
