Default Dell Inspiron Incompatibility

Hi, could someone who has actually tried it post their experiences with Mbox and Dell Inspiron? I have an 8200, and would love to use Mbox if it could be coaxed to work. What happens when you try it -- total failure? Weird noises? System crashes? Minor annoyances? Or what ... ?

If you have direct experience, could you let us know what to expect?

Thanks -- MM

Exactly what I'm trying to find out!!!

There is a bit of a test ground going on under the Forum:
"Pro Tools LE for Windows: Digi 002 - Digi 001 - Mbox ? ToolBox"

See post Dec 10:
"Mbox Notebook Performance Database?"

They're trying to test Mbox on various laptops.

Thing is, the Dell seems comply with their listed requirements, but for some unknown reason it's noted as incompatible. So, could this also happen with other laptops that "seem" to comply?

Hoping someone from digi can shed some light on where exactly the problem occurs. Does getting the software to run for a bit mean anything on a particular laptop, or does it eventually always crash?

Dazed & Confused,

there is also a thread in Dell support, Delltalk, in the audio part of the Inspiron but the whole thing is far from clear. It´s a mistery. Dell says: "ask Digidesign" wich is a very poor response and Digidesign says nothing. Both are behaving in a very disgusting way. What we like to hear is "Dell and Digidesign are working hard togheter to find out what the probleme is" ...or something like that
