Default Pro Tools Start Delay

I have a client that had a D24 system with a HUI and 1 888/24 that when you hit play on the HUI or Space Bar, it started without any delays. He has now added 2 MIX Farm cards, a 1622, and an Adat Bridge. The Adate Bridge is used with a Giga Sampler160. Now when he hits play it takes a couple of seconds to start. I did a mix the other day for him and it was very frustarting. Anyone have any suggestions.

What is your DAE buffer size? No change since last time before setup change, no ProTool re-install?

And you have more processor load compared to what you had before.

IMHO I can't help more

Hi maxserg, nothing software wise was changed. I did trash the prefs (PT & Digi setup) to reconfigure the system, so I assume the DAE buffer size would be @ 2, but i'll check.

Turn off the 2-bar count off. It will turn toggle if you hit the 8 key on the numeric keypad accidentally.

Thanks uno1234 but the 2bar count is not implemented. It's a different kind of delay. When you hit the space bar or the play button on the HUI the system hesitates a second before it starts playing. The system before adding all the new hardware and cards, worked instantaneously. Digi Support HELP!!!

Delayed starts in my experience have always been hard drive related. Normally when autopunch was active and a drive was heavily fragmented and or the drive was HFS+ formatted. You get slightly more available space on a HFS+ formatted drive but better performance from a HFS formatted drive. After discussions with Digi tech support, going back to HFS formatted drives solved my identical problem. Good luck.

Also seem to remember the state of "Mute Free Voices" having an affect on this kind of thing.

Thanks for everyone's input. I've done all except reformatting the drive to HFS Standard. I really don't this is the issue due to the system was running quicker before the added cards and interfaces. The drives were never changed. Digi Tech, I need your input on this!!
