Default How do I set Midi Offset latency?

Can anyone explain to me how to figure out the proper Midi offset setting? Need to figure out the amount of samples to put in.??? Thanks.

...set the offset to a value that is roughly equivalent to the H/W Buffer Size. Keep in mind this only affects playback. You can also offset tracks individually instead of global if needed.

And of course if you change your buffer...you'll have to change the offset...something hat a computer should be able to do.

sventvkg, I don't mean to tread on Shane's toes, though, personally, if we're dealing with MIDI Track Offsets, I find that each respective Virtual Instrument (VI) induces a varying degree of latency and entering the equivalent H/W Buffer Size doesn't represent a sample accurate offset.

Even some Patches will induce more latency than others, take for example, Structures EWQL Patch 08 Tambourines once printed, presented a lag of 447 Samples Original Time Stamp (OTS), where as EWQL Patch 11 Wood Blocks was sample accurate when printed OTS. This by the way was with no offsets at a 1024 H/W Buffer setting, RAM streaming. (These figures are relative to my system and are not absolutes).

So, my point is, print the first couple of seconds and then offset that Patch if you have too, respectively.

Agree with Filo. Setting to the buffer size will get you there "roughly". It's a good place to start but you'll find everything will need to be tweaked to get it close.

My toes hurt now.

I don't need to remind you that you should wear your safety boots before entering this place.

How do I get the latency while recording under control. I'll be triggering drums from EZ drummer or Addictve Drms but they qre always off by a certain amount of samples. Anyone know hot i can get the drums to record ro the grid?
