Pro Tools First crashes when creating project
Hey,
I realise that this topic has been posted before but I created a new thread as I think that my post is more specific. Have installed PTF on new laptop. When Creating New Project from a template I get to: Opening Overview file A Session Notes box appears with: "Some inputs or outputs may have become inactive because your audio hardware device has changed." Would you like to save a detailed report? No/Yes No or Yes the program crashes. No error message (detailed report is simply message that appears in Session Notes box) The project is created but when I try to open it I get following message: "Project Name cannot be opened. The latest version of the project may have been uploaded by a newer version of Pro Tools. Please install any available updates & try again." Interestingly if I Create New Project without template, the Project opens & I see the Edit window & then it crashes. No error message. Am running: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen Focusrite Control latest version Pro Tools First 2020.9.0 Windows 10 Pro latest version & fully updated including graphics drivers. Have uninstalled & re-installed. PTF Playback Engine is configured to Focusrite USB ASIO In Windows Control Panel>Sound the Playback & Recording default devices are set to Realtek device Have done General Trouble Shooting (Windows) Have done Windows 10 Optimizations & Troubleshooting under Computer Optimization Guides (Mac & Windows). Thats where I got idea of new User account which got me this far Have Googled DUC & Searched Knowledgebase Ironically I had this configuration working on old laptop that was unfortunately under spec. Is it Windows 10 Pro? Anyhoo, any thoughts are welcome SiSoftware Sandra ID Host Name : LAPTOP-C9LECQ8U Workgroup : WORKGROUP Computer Model : VivoBook_ASUSLaptop X509JB_X509JB Serial Number : LAN0CX0******** Chassis : ASUS Notebook Mainboard : ASUS X509JB Serial Number : LA43NBCX******** BIOS : AMI (OEM) X509JB.304 06/11/2020 TPM - Trusted Platform Module : INTC Intel 2.0 (PCR 24) Intel vPro : 13.0.21.1319 Total Memory : 19.81GB SO-DIMM DDR4 Processors Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1065G7 CPU @ 1.30GHz (4C 3.8GHz, 3.6GHz IMC, 4x 512kB L2, 8MB L3) Socket/Slot : FC BGA1526 Chipset Memory Controller : ASUS Core10U (IceLake-U 4C) ULV Host Bridge/DRAM Registers 100MHz, 2x 10GB SO-DIMM DDR4 2.13GHz 128-bit, Integrated Graphics Memory Module(s) Memory Module : Hynix (Hyundai) HMA82GS6JJR8N-VK 16GB SO-DIMM DDR4 2Rx8 PC4-21300SO DDR4-2666 (19-19-19-44 4-63-21-7) Video System Monitor/Panel : AU Optronics Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080, B156HTN06.1 , 15.5") Video Adapter : NVIDIA GeForce MX110 (256S 2C SM5.5 979MHz, 1MB L2, 2GB 5GHz 64-bit, PCIe 3.0 x4) Graphics Processor CUDA : NVIDIA GeForce MX110 (256S 2C SM5.0 979MHz, 1MB L2, 2GB 5GHz 64-bit) OpenCL : Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics (512S 64C SM2.1 1.1GHz, 1MB L2, 8GB) OpenCL : NVIDIA GeForce MX110 (256S 2C SM1.2 979MHz, 1MB L2, 2GB 5GHz 64-bit) D3D 11 : NVIDIA GeForce MX110 (256S 2C SM11.5 979MHz, 1MB L2, 2GB 5GHz 64-bit) D3D 11 : Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics (128MB) OpenGL : GeForce MX110/PCIe/SSE2 (2GB) Storage Devices Disk : WDC PC SN520 SDAPNUW-512G-1202 (512.1GB, RAID, SCSI-6) Logical Storage Devices OS (C:) : 476GB (NTFS, 4kB) @ WDC PC SN520 SDAPNUW-512G-1202 (512.1GB, RAID, SCSI-6) RECOVERY : 1GB (NTFS, 4kB) @ WDC PC SN520 SDAPNUW-512G-1202 (512.1GB, RAID, SCSI-6) SYSTEM : 256MB (FAT32, 4kB) @ WDC PC SN520 SDAPNUW-512G-1202 (512.1GB, RAID, SCSI-6) Peripherals LPC Hub Controller #1 : ASUS 495 Premium-U (Ice Lake-LP) LPC Controller Audio Device : ASUS Core10 (Ice Lake-LP) Smart Sound Technology Audio Controller Audio Codec : Realtek Semi 0256 Disk Controller : ASUS PCI standard RAM Controller Disk Controller : ASUS ICH8 Mobile SATA RAID Controller USB Controller #1 : ASUS Core10 (Ice Lake-LP) USB 3.1 xHCI Host Controller SMBus/i2c Controller #1 : Intel ICH SMBus Printers and Faxes Printer : Microsoft Software Printer Driver (300x300, Colour) Printer : Send to Microsoft OneNote 16 Driver (1200x1200, Colour) Printer : Microsoft XPS Document Writer v4 (600x600, Colour) Printer : Microsoft Print To PDF (600x600, Colour) Fax : Microsoft Shared Fax Driver (200x200) Biometrics Voice : Analog NUI Voice Virtual Sensor (Voice) Network Services Network Adapter : Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) (Ethernet) Wireless Adapter : Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9461 (802.11ac (VHT), AES-CCMP, 433.3Mbps) Power Management Battery #1 : ASUSTeK ASUS Battery 32.00Wh/4.20Ah Operating System Windows System : Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 10.0.19042 Platform Compliance : x64 |

Re: Pro Tools First crashes when creating project
I'm not 100% about First, but you could try trashing the Pro Tools preferences: https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare...s-preferences/

Re: Pro Tools First crashes when creating project
Yeah already tried it. Did it again to be sure. Looks like I will have to look at other
software packages |

Re: Pro Tools First crashes when creating project
I am setting up the laptop for my brother who is the muso. If we decided to go down Pro Tools path I guess there is no guarantee that it would work on this setup
