Default 4 vocals, 4 tracks into DIGI001 - what preamps?

I plan to record four vocals a'cappella soon.
I plan to use 4 vocal mics at once into 4
separate tracks (24-bit, 44.1) and would
like to take them into PT via a DIGI001.

Here's my plan: run 2 of the mics into the mic
pres of the DIGI001 (input 1 & 2). Run the
other 2 mics into a DBX 386 and run the SPDIF
out from the DBX into the SPDIF in of the DIGI001.

Do you think this will work o.k. and is it a
good way to go?

Also, if I can get one, would the Apogee Rosetta
2-chan. give me *noticibly* better sound than the DBX?

I'd recommend either a stereo pair or one omni for an acappella group. Their sound is not the sum of the parts, but the group as a whole, similiar to that of a horn and reeds section or a drum set. A good acappella group can and will blend themselves properly, and the fullness you will capture by recording them as a section rwill not be replicated by close micing them indivually.

I'd recommend a pair of AKG C414B ULS or Rode NTK's for stereo micing, and the 414 or an AKG C4000B for a single omni.

If you have the mic pre's you can do both close micing and section micing, and have the options at mixdown.

Hope this is helpful.
