Default Questions about selling my 003

I have a 003 rack from the Pro Tools LE7 days. I now use the Presonus Studiolive 16.4.2 as my interface with PT9.

I have no use for the 003 anymore and I'd like to sell it. However, my question is. Can I sell it with the PT LE7 disk and would the registration key for that still work? Since I got a new key for the PT9 upgradem, I'm not sure if that other key would work for someone else. From my assumptions, I don't believe that I could sell the 003 rack with the PT LE software, but I might be mistaken.

Thanks for the help.

scratch into the top that the unit has been used for the upgrade
include the LE7 disk and code

Not sure what the first part means, but, yes the old authorization code will still work for the next owner. Check the Buy&Sell section(first thread) for more details on selling and transfer of ownership. That could help the next owner get updates(for 7.3) or they could possibly use the 003 serial number to get a discount on PT9(the serial number is only good for one upgrade deal). Or just sell it as is and the next owner can fend for themselves(not a bad thing if you are up front about it). Sometimes folks just sell the hardware and the new owner would then purchase their own software(maybe the next owner would prefer PT8 or 9).

sounded like he already used the s/n to get his 9 upgrade if he did he need to be upfront about it not being available for the next guy
by permanently marking that the s/n has been used for the upgrade it would prevent it from being passed form sucker to sucker, hopefully

When I upgraded to PT9 I also upgraded the firmware in the 003 (wasn't paying attention to what I was doing). I did also register the serial number on the 003 with PT9. Does that mean if I sell the 003 with the LE7 disk, would the transfer of ownership void my PT9 ownership. I'm in kind of a tough spot with understanding all this.

Is the firmware backwards compatable?

The firmware should be backwards compatible. The transfer of ownership covers the hardware and the PTLE software. It does not cover PT9 as far as I'm aware off. PT9 is yours to keep.

Craigs correct about letting any future buyer that the serial has already been used to upgrade to PT9

So let me get his correct. I can do a transfer of ownership with my 003 and retain my PT9 ownership, but since I have registered the 003 s/n with PT9, the personal I would be presumably selling the 003 to would not be able to upgrade to PT9? Ever?

They could upgrade to PT9 if they want, they just would not be able to use the hardware serial number to get a discount on PT9.

The only thing is that they can't use the 003 to get the $249 crossgrade price, because you already used it. They can just buy the $599 full version with no problem and use that.

Or it could end up being that you sell to someone who already has an Mbox and is already on PT9, and are just looking for the hardware aspect (more I/O) of the 003 to use with their existing system, in which case none of that will matter.
