Default What is the cause of a track's low volume?!

I have a stereo instrument track that has low volume when I play it back. What the heck! Why did the volume get so low?

I checked:
The mixer faders
The Xpand2 Level
Mute Automation
MIDI Volume

...none of them show signs of anything different!!

-using pro tools mp9. Stereo instrumetn track, with MIDI on it.

Check the volume setting on the VI plugin. Open the expanded lane and select to show Velocity and see where the little diamonds are sitting. If they are all in the middle to lower section of the lane, that could be the issue(easy fix is to select all the midi notes and then drag any velocity diamond up(all will go with it if all notes are selected). How are you inputting midi data to your instrument track?

Cool! Consider yourself lucky. Most VIs are about 4 to 8 times as loud as they should be. You usually have to turn them down 12 dB to keep from clipping.

Plus one at Albee that's what I would've guessed also velocity

Which should lead you to question the velocity curve on your keyboard

What does VI stand for?

I opened up MIDI editor and checked the little diamond velocity levels and raised them all, but it still is silent compared to how it was.

I am inputting MIDI data to my instrument track by using the Xpand2 Plug in. My MIDI goes through my USB (not my interface).

If You Have More Than One Midi Track Going To Your VI (On The Same Midi Channel), The Conflicting Midi Volume Messages From Either Fader Will Adjust The Volume, If That's Not The Problem, Bump Up The Performance Velocity.... Or, You Could Bang A Compressor On The Output ")
