Hi there, yeah i've got it, & it's not that amazing frankly...i've used it on a few tracks in past, but it's not a plugin i reach for anymore...I also think that waves MaxxBass/RenBass , unfortunately, does a far better job on the bottom end than the aphex big bottom does...just my opinion for what that's worth

I don't think it really sounds much like my hardware 'Aphex Model C' unit either, but i've never bothered to do a direct comparison

Can be useful to add some sparkle on the top. It's supposedly
the same algorithm as the hardware unit .. at least that's what
Aphex said when it came out.

I'm careful not to dial it up very much because it can be
very fatiguing on the ears.

I have had two of the ‘real’ Aphex 204 units at the same time as the Plugins, I ended up selling the two real units about two months after buying the plugins.

I did lot’s of double blind A/B ing & null tests and the like, the plugin is identical sound wise, but has more features & total recall, I had been using the ‘real’ boxes for quite a few years & have never looked back since getting the plugin’s…

As far as the Aural Exciter effect goes, a little goes a VERY long way, but it’s just the ticket for some things, as a rule, twiddle until it sounds nice & then back it off a bit, the optical big bottom, is also best used sparingly, watch out for it grabbing resonant frequencies though…

Cheers
