Default Compaq compatibility

Hi,

does anybody know about the compatibility of a compaq workstation, AP 500. with Protools, PT/24 or mix. I currently use a S8 and want to do the upgrade. I use compaqs al the time for video editing and the're great machines.
I've tested briefly PT on a Mac , but I'm used to the PC environment and offcourse the 2-button mouse. So that was a short testdrive. It's difficult to find a PT on NT
to test so I think it will be a leap of faith. I was always very happy with the way editing could be done with S8, so shouldn't be that different on PT.
Hope someone can help.

Default Re: Compaq compatibility

Hi. We have PT NT with the D|24 hardware running fine on a Compaq "Desk Pro 350" model. This is not the officially supported platform (the IBM M Pro IntelliStation is) but so far it works fine. I'm not at all familiar with the Compaq "workstation" model you mention, but I'd say the odds are good if it's a true workstation class NT platform.

At the present time PT NT 4.2.5 only supports
sevice pack 3. We have a new rev (that is the same name) that will support service pack 4.
This should be released sometime in May. Untill then if you go ahead, be sure and configure your platform with service pack 3.

Please check the "minimum NT platform requirments" posted on the Digi web site. These specs are important. There are very few
differences between the mac PT version and NT. They're so close it's scary. I hope this information is helpful.

Default Re: Compaq compatibility

Thanks a lot for the reply.
I'm sure if it works on a desktop model, it would do fine on the AP 500.
I'ts a dual( capable , but only fitted with one proc. ) PII 450. PIII is not yet supported I heard. Pitty.
Thanks again

regards,
Frank
