Default Mac Mini w/ 002 Factory - Lack of Firewire Ports?

Hi there guys, my 002 should be arriving from Digi tomorrow and I had pretty much set my mind a on 'speced out' Mac Mini (you know, fastest processor, 2GB RAM etc) as a new system that would exclusively run Pro Tools and music software and pretty much nothing else at all.

Then it struck me - the Mac Mini has just ONE firewire port, which obviously would be in use from the 002. How will I be able to attach an external Firewire hard drive with the Oxford 911 chipset?.

Would the 002 work through a hub such as the Belkin High Speed Hub for Mac Mini (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=199941)?

Or is there some way to 'daisychain' the external drive and the 002 into the single firewire port on the Mac? Recording quality and performance levels are obviously my main priority, cost is secondary, so if I have to buy something to avoid diminishing the performance, I will.

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

Yes, this is the preferred method. I would try to get a firewire drive with two ports (I think this is somewhat common) so you can put the drive between your Mac and your 002. Otherwise the 002 has two ports (but the former procedure works great in my experience).

Enjoy,
