Default Creative Content Collection "*.big" files MIDI Xpand!2

Hi,

So, I've run into the familiar situation of the "Factory Content" files not found when attempting to use most of my virtual instrument plug-ins (Xpand!2, Boom, Mini Grand, Strike!, etc).

My factory content files are in the default install location:

/Applications/Digidesign/Pro\ Tools\ Creative\ Collection

Depending upon the Plug-in, I was able to set the location again, in the instances where the plugin presented a "browse" button on the error dialog box.

Sadly, this information does not appear to be retained when saving the project.

Additionally, the "Xpand!2" plug-in, in most cases, did not present the error dialog at all - it did present in one instance and I was able to set the file and use the plugin for a few minutes - it was lost again after a save (note, that I did not exit Pro Tools, I just saved).

The "Strike!" plug-in presents a message to run the "SetStrikeContentLoacation" app - this is under the "/Applications/Digidesign/Pro\ Tools\ AIR/Content\" directory - unfortunately, this is an older "Universal" app and will not launch in 64bit OS X Lion.

I have performed the ubiquitous "delete your profiles/database files, etc." routine and nothing helps.

The above occurred after performing a full install of "Pro Tools 9.0.5".

Side note: The "Strike!" plugin worked, after the initial install, when I opened a project previously recorded using PT 8.x - I think I saved after playing the project, so the bug might have something to do with the project Save save routine in 9.0.5?

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Adekyn, this could be a bug, given the Pro Tools 9.0.5 under OS X 10.7.x is a public beta release. Can you reproduce this behaviour with a newly created Pro Tools 9.0.5 session? What QuickTime version are you running? Does Pro Tools crash? Generally, Pro Tools saves it's preferences on closing the session and Pro Tools on a successful Exit.

Hi,

I can recreate this in a new session.

OS X 10.7.1 - w/ QuickTime version 10.1 (501)

Pro Tools hasn't crashed during the session, on Save, or on Exit/Quit.

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken QT latest revision should be 7.7 for OS X and 10.1 is the revision for iTunes.

Have you try running under a new user account?

So, I ran the uninstaller ("Safe Uninstall" option) and reinstalled. The plug-ins work correctly. I haven't tested them all, but Xpand! worked out of the box.

One thing I have noticed that is fairly consistent (~80% of the time) when working with MIDI tracks is an odd "hang on Play" immediately after manually "resizing" a note in the MIDI Editor. If I tweak a note's length then reset to the beginning bar and press "Play", I hear a single note - then silence - the project halts playback. If I save the session and restart Pro Tools, then all is fine again.

I can move the notes around without this occurring - it's seems to be relegated to the "resize" (lengthen/shorten) feature only.

Not a show stopper, but annoying - kills productivity.

Great! Ummm... I'd write up a bug report for that MIDI Note issue. You can submit them at IdeaScale. Make note of your system, OS X 10.7.x with Pro Tools 9.0.5.
