Not saying you do, just saying it's unusual since all 1155 CPUs have on-die graphics.

You can only clock RAM at 1333MHz with 2nd gen CPUs.

PCIx as in anything pre-PCIe.

Ok so to avoid confusion between PCIx and PCIX i'd call them PCI and PCIX

Why would anyone want 2nd Gen Cpu when they can have a 3rd Gen ?

Price and there's not much difference in power, especially among the 1155 CPUs. The biggest difference between 2nd and 3rd gen are the on-die GPU and power consumption.

Well I think its a money trade off I guess what you save on the price of this board you can put towards a 3rd gen CPU ;0)

Either way its no deal breaker to me, I'm just wondering how many PCI slots I actually need and im thinking it may only be 2 or 3 so im still looking at other boards with more PCIe slots but this one is a contender for sure.

Building a hack close to the one I've build by myself costs about 500 euros more than purchasing the single items on Amazon - but note that I've also got the Jetway MOBO and a 1000 W modular PSU.

It takes time, but to learn to DIY a hack it's very rewarding (not just financially )

Jetway released BIOS 07 for the Q67 - time to check it out !
Hey Fatcode;
I would like to extend the life of my HD-3 by making a Jetaway Hackintosh.... it seems like a great option.
Judging from your post you have made a successful build.
I wouldn`t mind buying another accel and making a HD4.
Have you tried this?
Any help you could offer me would be greatly appreciated

You can get TDM flex extenders from Bob Nagy,

Alternatively, does anyone know if it is possible to mix PCI and PCIe Accel cards in the system?

You definitely can't do that

@Bill Rigby

Yes my build was successful on Jetway hack - I have a HD3 running very well on 10.6.8 - I have SSD and i7-2600k - this thing is fast and stable

I followed Freddar (on tonymacx86) instructions - as I started with the hack from zero I put my story and useful links here - check it out

http://protoolspcix.blogspot.co.uk/

You get all the details of my build and the steps you need to follow. Also if you google search well enough you can find the audio VIAHDA kext drivers for the Jetway

I can't get bluetooth to work well yet - I have a Targus usb bluetooth adapter and is giving me some kernel panics - maybe I should install the right kext for it or something like that - I'm using a USB keyboard anyway so it doesn't matter that much - perhaps another USB bluetooth would fix the problem..

Fatcode, can I ask why you are trying to use Bluetooth?
In some audio app? Or are you just trying to get it to work for the sake of it?

I find bluetooth a huge waste of time for most everything.
It's buggy even on a real Mac.

Hi Fatcode !
Your build guide looks cool thanks for going to the trouble of documenting it,
I'm interested to know did you try your Gigabyte GA-H55-USB3 with your HD Cards? it looks like a more attractive board than the Jetway to me but im slightly hesitant to buy a gigabyte board if there are no HD PCIX success stories.
