Default Recording Vocals in Pro Tools

Hello Guys,

This is very much a newbie question, But I never used Pro Tools for recording, I use it mainly for Virtual Instruments and Mix ITB 99% of the time.

I was trying to record some vocals for a singer ...

When I press the I button, he can clearly hear his voice on the headphones, but once I hit record to start recording, his voice isn't heard anymore ....

What is the option I should check in order to fix this ?

Thanks

Hi,

Can you post a image of the recording channel from mix window?

Have you checked that there isn't any mute or volume automation on the track?

Also uncheck "Unlink Play And Record Faders" in Preferences.
If it's checked fader settings might be different from playback and recording.

chrisdee I have a question, i found in preferences the option that says "Link Play and Record Faders" and not "UNLINK" so I did uncheck it ...

What does it do anyway ?

If unchecked you can have different fader settings for recording and playback.
I though maby you fader was set to very low during recording.

Also, check your interface settings. Especially if your interface-to-monitors is a different path than what you use for mixing playback.

For example, on the Focusrite Scarlet there's a knob next to Monitor for Input / Playback. Turning such a knob could fix your issue
