lost protools authorisation code -silly me

Hi,
I just bought a new laptop after a few years of being on a desk top, and have lost my original book which had the authorisation code for LE. There may be no way, but has any body done this, and does digidesign ever provide a new code? It was not registered.

Not if it wasn't registered. (Well, maybe if you can show proof of purchase).

Depending on which hardware you are using, purchasing the newest software would solve your problem, as it would come with a new software key.

I would recommend registering in the future.

What spkguitar say's stands, for he knows better than I and this is not meant as a devaluing in any form.

Anyway ...this has happened to myself once as well, I simply returned to the original shop of purchase and they rang Digidesign distributors Protel here in New Zealand and they immediately issued another Authorization Code. This might be a feasible option for you. Meaning if your local music shop knows you, they could contact your local Digidesign distriutor.

Yes well I have the same problem. Due to pro tools and win 7 issues. I decided to do a start over from 8.01. I took out the packet of pro tools goodies. wiped and formatted my HDD, reinstalled 8.01 and ooops code required. thought i had everything safe. now at first i did register, of course i did. have been able to get the melodyne ok and ilok etc all ok.
in my digi account they seem to only cater for 7.4 or previous lost codes.
i have written to support and wait answer.

What version of PT do you have? Maybe its time to buy the PT8 upgrade?(which is the full installer anyway). That would get you a new code for your new software. $149 at any retailer(and often cheaper in the Buy&Sell section).
