Default DIGI 002 RACK firewire link stopped. weird noises

digi 002 rack
less than a year old.
listening to itunes tonight and all of a sudden itunes stops playing and I hear a bunch of little "click " sounds coming from the back of my 002.

i look back and its the link light going on and off, on and off, on and off.

So i restarted. same prob.

restart, unhook all cables, switch firewire cables, switch firewire ports . . .still same problem.

????????????????

g5 1.8ghz, mac os 10.3.9, 1.25 RAM. no problems ever until tonight.

please do not tell me i have to send it somewhere . . .god, that would suck.

Sounds like a power harness problem...they are notorious on the Digi002 racks...

You can have digi ship you a repair kit.

UPDATE:
as of this morning my digi 002 is dead. the power will come on, but i have no link to any firewire ports, nothing.

when opening the digi core audio manager, i cannot get it to see the 002, so i guess i now have the same problem as many others.

anyone know the link to get this taken care of, or where to contact digi for fast support?

Default power harness

Hi ,
It would seem to me now that 002's rack or otherwise blow out a powerharness around the 1 year mark . People often think its the firewire ports that are blown . mabey they get blown along the way as well . Mine just went today in the middle of a workshop with 8 actors and a producer sitting in front of me looking at me sideways great fun it was . i think also that if its on too long and overheats a llittle there is more chance of it going .

hope it gets better for ye

UPDATE:
I talked to digidesign support on monday, the 8th of aug, and finished dealing with them by 3.p.m. pacific time.

august 9th, at 1 pm I received my power harness kit via Fed Ex and all is working again smoothly.

I complain a lot about customer service because I am on a limited budget, so when I make a buy like a 002 rack, it really counts to me.

Now, i have had many a problem with digi support before, and complained quite a bit.

This time though, I thought I'd just say thanks for the quick fix. I do not think it was enough to actually to keep me going on the 002 rack, but the customer service was appreciated.

Cheers

the power harness thing is notorious...but thanks to the DUC...I was able to diagnose and fix the problem...guess you did too... I think that's the only major problem with the 002...it should work well from now on...
