Default Post Salary?

Can anyone tell me how much a post production member or superviser gets paid?

Depends on your undergarments. I know a guy working at a post house as a sound editor making about $45k/yr. and I work with one supervisor who probably makes around $75k/yr. I can't understand why it's so low... that's not much at all considering the cost of living in LA, much less buying expensive tools like protools, waves and such. There are of course exceptions. I also know a couple of mixers who probably pull in over $200k/yr. (guessing).

When you talk about salaries in USA, do you usually state gross or net figures? What do the above figures stand for?

Danijel,
It's always "gross".
A "Sound Supervisor" gets around $2000-$2700 (or more, it depends) a week on a Union Show.
What is a "Post Production Member"?
Below is a link to the Local 700 Union Wage page.

Georgia,
Did you even look at my post above?
Look at the link, it's the same.

To be very clear, most (all people) should go under "Independent Post Production Agreement" NOT "The Majors". Also, If your in LA, use the West Coast, New York, The East Coast agreement. These wages are base pay. Some people get "over scale" depending on their pull, experience, etc. Many places are not paying over scale these days.

Georgia,
Just giving you a hard time

Marti, thanks. That is one big catch when we look at US job ads. Don't know about western Europe, but in these parts we ALWAYS talk in net wages, so 50k$ may look like a LOT of money to some, but no-one knows it's 35k$ actually, and then it comes down to just 27k€ when converted.....

I haven't compared the two recently, but I'm sure the higher cost of living in NYC is also a contributing factor.

Nah! It's the Mob / Mayors office payoffs that get factored in.
