Default Tempo Trouble

Hello,

I'm a hip-hop producer new to the forum with a brand new set-up which includes an Mbox 2 Mini and Pro Tools LE on an Intel Macbook Pro computer.

I like sequencing the beats I import into Pro Tools in Grid format. For some reason, I cannot get the tempo in Pro Tools to match my beats properly.

For example: I have a CD with 16bit, 44.1 wave files that play at 94 Bpm. When I import these waves into a 24bit, 44.1 Pro Tools session and adjust the tempo setting from the default 120 Bpm to 94 Bpm, It's still noticeably off beat. This prevents me from sequencing my music properly. I know there's a way around this problem because I've used Pro Tools in the past to put my songs together in Grid format. Maybe I'm not setting the tempo properly in the first place? I'm stumped!!

Can you please offer me a solution to my problem? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Jim

You could use the TCE (Time Compression Expansion) Tool to physically time stretch the loop to fit to the grid, i use to use loops in Pro Tools and they always correctly lined up?

Cheers

are you sure you're lining the audio up with the grid? Just because you set the tempo doesn't mean the audio is sitting on the correct grid line.

Hey thanks. But the thing is this, I'd prefer not use the time stretch. I haven't had to use time stretch in any pro tools session before either. Usually, I could just set the tempo and my beats would line right up to the grid.

Thanks. I think that helped.

I am just getting used to this new set-up. Much appreciation!
