Default Firewire over Thunderbolt?

OK here is the deal; I want to move up to HD|N in the near future, but I need to be portable. The HD Native Thunderbolt solution looks like it would be ideal for my needs.

Right now I have my 003R and 11R in a 4U wheelie rack that I just drag out of the studio when I need to. I have a Windows laptop that I use for the portability, and then mix on the studio computer. I could go with the HDN card only in the studio 'puter, or put in a thunderbolt card and use HD|N Thunderbolt in both the studio and portable situations.

I know I need another interface, and the 00X to Omni/HDN upgrade looks attractive. However, I'll need to do it in stages, and I would still need to use my 003+ with a new windows laptop with Thunderbolt until I get the HD|N solution bought.

So here is the question: Has anyone tried the firewire over thunderbolt cable with the 003? Any issues?

The Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter generally works fine. The only people that have issues are those trying to use interfaces or drives that are actually powered by firewire. This is not the case with the 003, so it won't be an issue.

That was my initial thought as well, but have not spoken to anyone that actually used the 003 or other fire wire interface, to see if there were any glitches. I could go ahead and still keep the old laptop running as a backup to fire wire just in case I guess.

Thanks
