(not sure if AVID reads idea scale at all but who knows...)

Any news regarding this wish, something that I may have missed the last couple of years?

It would save me (and everybody else who does this) lots of time.. That would be an awesome reason to upgrade for me.

Yep. Use it all the time. I audio suite the result however (sorry old school).

How well do these tools work when the talent is moving and maybe turning their head while speaking, and the boom mic is cueing among talent all the time? How often do you want to combine a lav and a boom on a sit-down interview--like why would you do this?

You can do it with Autoalign. The combination is a mixing decision however. I would say, not that often but it happens and I'd like my dialogue editor to bring me in dialog tracks in coherence.

I have two aux inputs setup for this purpose. I route boom and lav tracks to their aux inputs with auto allign inserted on both aux inputs. Auto allign is inactive until I run into the problematic scene where I am not able to sync lac and boom manually...(usually wide shots where I am not able to see transients in boom clearly) I set boom as main send, let the plugin detect time and polarity issues and then I make adjustments manually. Most of the time this helps...
