Default Bounce to MP3 suddenly stopped working

Suddenly bounce to MP3 requires iLok authorization! WTF
I have tried re-syncing the iLok as per Avid recommendation, re-installing PT and also trying a newer version of MP3.DLL, nada.
This has happened on all of my rigs all running PT10 and apparently the problem is not restricted to PT10.
I'm guessing this started with the iLok nonsense that happened recently when iLok software stopped working which required updating the iLok manager to fix. Can you say Time Bomb? (PACE!!!!)
It seems like there's a simple fix for a problem that shouldn't be a problem but I'm stumped. A registry tweak?

Open iLok manager and look thru your licenses for an expired MP3 asset. If you find one, remove/delete/deactivate it(and cross your fingers)

Nothing there.
I've heard that reinstalling the OS cures it but I don't think I'll bother (5 rigs)
