Default Bias out of business?

I've been using Bias PEAK for mastering for years, went to their website, says they've ceased operations!

Can't believe it. And I just upgraded to the latest version -- money well spent

That really stinks. I'm surprised they couldn't get another company to buy them, or even if they tried.

I was looking forward to the multitrack feature they were hyping up.

I wonder if someone will buy their assets down the line. For example, Gigastudio went out of business, but sometime later the assets were bought and revived by Garritan. Maybe that will happen here.

Bummer. I've used Peak for SO LONG. Nothing comes close.

That being said their prices were way too high. I think they screwed themselves in the long run. (Like Waves.)

When I went to the site I thought maybe it was a hack or something but I guess not. It's a shame as Bias Peak was my answer on the Mac to Sony Soundforge on a Windoze machine. The site says the authorization manager is still working at this time.

Sweetwater site is still selling it with no notation as to health of company (Bias).

How about a good replacement? Any ideas?

Wow. I'm still on peak 5. I was just testing out Lion and contemplating upgrading. Glad I didn't. Guess I'll also ask. What are some alternatives?

Just read this over on the Motunation forum (used to be a member there). It shines a light on what happened. Page 2 of the thread look for a post by sberkley (Steve Berkley Pres & CEO of Bias, Inc.)

Not good when stuff like this happens. Must have been a small company.

Well, it's encouraging that he mentioned something about trying to find a solution for users to keep using the products.

It still seems like the easiest thing would be for another company to buy the assets and re-release it, or incorporate it into their own products.

Fwiw just found out DSP Quattro is now available at a special peak cross grade price. Looking into it right now.
