adding or removing plugins while recording will not happen yet, we talked about it yesterdag.
You will introduce an new latency for the instance on wich you set or remove a plugin, so protools has to recalibrate the whole latency... at playback thats not an issue, but at recording you can not suddenly recalibrate, there would be a gap or overlap somewhere. Anyway thats the conclusion of yesterday at the protools day Utrecht (NL)

Simple answer: nobody knows.
Educated guess: during Q1/2019

It would only be possible if the mixer added XYZ samples of dummy latency for every track to be replaced with something else on the fly. In theory that would make it possible.

But nobody wants to shoot themselves on the foot because we have lots of users here that are hearing comb filtering with 64 playback buffer

To me if no folder track and/or ARA then this update is useless, it's been a while and these 2 things will improve my workflow big time.

I doubt very much either of those things will be in the update considering the user survey thing was only around a week ago and they were some of the features you could request.

The did say that it would be out sometime in the first 3 months of 2019 I believe

I only ask because I am happy with PT. I do have small problems with it but no show stoppers,.....for me its hard to have a show stopper cause I have a Window and Mac based working systems,when one system is broken I use the other you know The Show and PT must go on.
In the Studio we are all very happy when updates comes out but we spend time making music not waiting for updates.
