Shortcut to turn a clip into a full timeline track
10 years ago I used to remember the command to take a short clip, i.e. a guitar solo that say started at measure 40 for 8 measures, but use a command to turn consolidate it to the entire length of the selected time line.
So if my solo track starts and ends measure 40 to 48, there was a way make it fill the entire time line. Since tracking didn't start until measure 40, there is nothing to pull left or right... But need to export the track so someone else can import it starting at their ZERO in their daw.. Please help me remember... the brain cells aren't working!

Re: Shortcut to turn a clip into a full timeline track
I figured it out, I selected the track from zero on the time line, to the beginning of the recorded audio at measure 40, then selected consolidate track. This created a wav file to measure 40, then I selected measure 48 to to the end of the songs time line, and selected consolidate track. This still left 40 to 48 as it's own clip. So then I selected the entire selection (zero to end of song) and then ran consolidate again. Now I have one continuous wav file.

Re: Shortcut to turn a clip into a full timeline track
Or ... just go to zero (carefully, use the grid) and put that track in record for one second. Then select that 1-second clip, then "select all" (Command-A on a Mac) and consolidate. This gives you a wav file from bar-1, beat-1 through the end of bar 48. I can't think of why you'd need bar 48 to the end, but you could do the same thing at the end of the song and just consolidate those 3 pieces one time to produce a full length wav file.

No need to create all these intermediate files/steps; just select the track from start to end of song and consolidate (shift-opt-3) - done.

Re: Shortcut to turn a clip into a full timeline track
Select last clip, Shift-Return. That selects to session start. Then the consolidate command.
However, that's what Commit is for. Right click the track and select Commit... Make sure it's set to commit the track, not the selection.
