Maximum peak level for a movie comercial?
Hello
I´m mixing a comercial in stereo for a movie theater which complyes with Dolby standart. I´d like to know what is the recomended maximum peak level I should deliver in the mix. Thanks, this is my first time mixing for movies. |

Re: Maximum peak level for a movie comercial?
No such thing. However, you must meet 82 dBleq(m). Then again, if it's stereo, it must be some sort of festival or special thingy because usually a 5.1 is required (Cinema was never (2 channel) stereo), and they probably don't even care.

You should really try and get a spec. sheet from your client, but for example "Screenvision" ask for a stereo broadcast mix peaking no higher than -20db.

Re: Maximum peak level for a movie comercial?
I mixed a cinema spot that was being trafficked through NCM last week. Spec for them was -10 peak and -24lufs. With 5.1 discrete, PL2 or stereo files on a quicktime.

True stereo; LoRo, fed to Left and Right only in a theater sounds awful.
An LtRt "broadcast" mix or decoded LoRo is a close second, with hyper compressed/limited/EQ'd VO tracks contributing to the awful factor. j |
