Video engine and External Disk
Hi todos,
I'm a post production mixer and music composer and I've a f***** problem with my pro tools. It's impossible to load the video engine with external disk plug on my laptop so I've to do a lot of manipulations to load my virtual instruments in this disk and the video on the same session. Somebody have this problem too ? I'm on pro tools 11. Thanks, Jay |

Re: Video engine and External Disk
Which OS are you using? What permissions are setup for your user and the external disk?

Re: Video engine and External Disk
Hi Andrew;
Thanks for the reply, I use El Capitan and I've all authorizations (read and play) for the external disk and the main user (me). I guess there is a file in this disk which blocks the video engine at the beginning but I don't know what.. Sorry for the language i'm french, I start to learn :) |

Re: Video engine and External Disk
Can you try having the video file in a folder at the root level of your media drive. The folder having a simple character only name and the video file a simple character only name. "MediaDrive"\Video\Jay.mov for example. (Check the permissions are correct for the Video folder)

Re: Video engine and External Disk
Hey, I tried it but nothing changed, always this message "avid connect to the video engine" and nothing...
The folder's permissions are ok. I don't understand... Jay |

Re: Video engine and External Disk
How is the external drive connected to the laptop? Is the external drive Mac formatted something else? (USB and ExFAT?)

Re: Video engine and External Disk
If you open a workspace (windows>new workspace>default), what doe the drive permission show: R, T, or P for that drive?
What is the codec of your video? Have you tried to trash databases on all drives?(close pro tools, trash, empty trash, restart computer, restart pro tools) see here for utility app: http://petegates.com/pg-pt-prefs.html
