Massey L2007 is great, I only do volume "mastering" of my demo stuff and it does a great job.

Why you would want to bounce faster than realtime at the one stage were its essential to actually listen to whats going to be the final product is a bit beyond me. There are places for faster than realtime bounces but the master is not one of them in my opinion. The other parts of post made sense but that just leaves me scratching my head
I listen to my mixes exhaustively and then make a decision, if it's a go i have to wait another X many mins to get the bounce, whats unusual about that?

There is only only so much you can do mastering ITB. Specialist hardware tools give it its super polish.

Hense the mastering studio being a seperate entity.

I know that Metropolis studios in London (one of the largest independants left) do an email mastering service and they boast one the best fully equiped mastering studios in the world! (and no I do not work for them).

Failing that there are a multitude of smaller mastering suites throughout the world.

T-racks (software), Massey L2007 (software), TC's finaliser (hardware), Loads of lush EQ's, Limiters, compressors (all hardware) and of course the awesome 'turd polisher' would also help.

A:)

I know that you don't like waves but the linear eq and linear mb are excellent.

Absolutely stunning plugins.....Flux. Those are amazing. The limiter is good, their Alchemist plug is amazing and the eq is sweet (as far as linear band eqs can be)

You can demo all of their stuff for free and I think right now they have 50% off. I would venture to say, without getting into Algorithmix (very expensive but used by many mastering houses), they are the best out there (my personal opinion of course). Check them out. If I had the money, I would jump on them!

God bless

Where is the link to get that 50% off?

I use the L3 Mutilmaxmizer in waves..its just perfect for some cases but in others I use Adobe Audtion 3 mastering plugin which works wonders after a lil tweaking...I also recently used the Ozone 4 hiphop preset for a track and it did wonders!! ...I can never make up my mind which to use more time

If you go to Sweetwater or Audio-Midi.com you will see them on sale. Some are 30% off and some are 50%. For instance you can get the pure pack at Sweetwater for $299 and you can get the Pure Limiter and others for just $84 at Audio-Midi.com. I know also that the company gives 50% off for educational customers. But the above specials right now are for everybody.

Hope that helps

God bless!

Guys, you should check out DSM - Dynamic Spectrum Mapper from PRO AUDIO DSP.

This plug is insane, I promise.
You can look it up on YouTube and see what it does. Oh, and I don't work for them.

The best mastering plug-in I ever used was the TCMasterX, back when I worked on a TDM system. If they had an RTAS version I'd jump at it in a heartbeat.

Closest I've found that I can deal with is iZotope Ozone. Or, if I must, a Waves C4 followed by the L2.

Another vote for OZONE 4. Very powerful. A total cpu pig though
