Default Slate Raven MTX & MTi

Is anyone using either of these controllers yet? Care to share your experience with us?

Christmas is coming...

I've had 20-30 minutes on each so take this as one opinion only. MTX- after several minutes, my arms actually got tired of the long reach for a lot of stuff on the screen(not to mention the deep reach into your wallet). The smaller version felt much more promising to me(except they have no Windows support).

I checked out the MTi at GC-

Had high hopes as it's been V-control on an ipad since selling the pro control but didn't really care for it. The biggest issues were that a, you have to have only 10 slots open in your mixer (IE inserts A-E, and sends A-E), and you still need the mouse for many things. Also there is no fader flip for auxes (you have to open each aux one at a time). Steven says maybe something was wrong with the 'nano-glide' on one I tried so I might try it again at some point. And the software is being updated more and more so it may be better in a few months...

But what I didn't like ultimately is the nature of switching between what works with touch and what doesn't. It's probably something that a user can adjust to...but it has been my experience with controllers that if the process of switching back and forth takes more time/effort that just using the mouse and key commands, then I don't end up using it much...

I'm sure people will be happy with them, but IMO it's definitely a good idea to try it out first if you can. Not a bad idea to bring you mouse/trackball/keyboard along because part of the workflow will still depend on that.

After an hour, my eyes hurt from the screen resolution. It's an icon for me.

YYR123, I, too have the same question. Seems to me that being that close to even an HD screen we are going to see the pixels...?

I had the hope of placing an order at AES in NYC.... Its a great piece... I still may order the MTi at some point in the near future, but I just couldn't see myself mixing on that for hours. Not to say its bad. I believe its the future of control surfaces in some ways just want to wait and see... Its def a Low light in the room piece of gear. At AES it was under bright Lights...

Slate has made great products, specially the plugins with Fabrice Gabriel, but this device...I don't want to be blind after mixing a record and I really need real faders.
