OT: iTunes 4.0.1 won't work

I've been trying to make the jump to OS X. What a headache!

Here's the thing: I've got 10.1. I'm waiting to win the lottery so I can BUY the dang 10.2 "Jaguar" thing and thus get the honor of upgrading PT (which I'll still probably be using 5.2 for most of my work). Anyway, I download the new version of iTunes. It says it works with 10.1.5 or higher. Well, it won't even open. All I get is a message saying it has unexpectedly quit. My system only says 10.1. There is no mention of any .5 or anything. Am I screwed? Will iTunes not work now until I plunk down the $130 to upgrade to 10.2???? Are you kidding me????

I mean, I know most of you out there in PT land in this Republican-controlled economy are lighting your cigars with $100 bills, but I got a stack of BILLS to pay, knowmsayin'?? All I wanna do is listen to some tunes in OS X! Does that cost $130 or is there a fix I don't know about????

A good advice:

Don't jump to OS X until you can afford the Jaguar version.

I would second that advice, even though I never used 10.1 since I did take this advice myself and it paid off. You should be able to download the 10.1.5 update from the Apple website here.

Thanks for the advice. I found out the same thing from the cats at the Apple store today. I was under the impression that the ONLY update they were offering was the one you had to pay through the nose for.

Still, 21mb for the upgrade is gonna take an eternity. I'm one of the poor saps who still connects via dial up. Pity me. I'm financially challenged.

OK, I got the update. Turns out the one I needed wasn't 21mb. it was 45mb!!!!! Took 3 1/2 hours. Good thing I don't have anything else to do with my life, huh?

iTunes 4.0.1 works now, but it won't recognize my iPod. It doesn't show up in the source list like it does in 9.2. It comes up on my desktop like it's supposed to, though. Any thoughts?

So, Heritage and clorox: I guess you're saying this is only a rich man's game then? Or are you saying that you don't have to pay for things like, you know, food, shelter, clothing, electricity, water, phones, transportation, the upbringing of children.....shall I go on? Wow, how do I get THAT life????

Oh, wait...I forgot...I'm an ADULT with RESPONSIBILITIES to my FAMILY. That's right. Silly me.

Terry, you own an iPod and call yourself financially challenged? I guess you must be kinda like me. I play a Sadowsky bass and own about five preamps and DI's that I don't really need, but the thought of paying for simple things scares the **** out of me!

The ONLY reason I have an iPod, a 5GB model mind you, is because a rich friend of mine wanted to sell it and get a 20GB model when they came out. I got it for half the price it would have been new. Otherwise, I would be iPod-less.

And that was back when I didn't have as many obligations as I do now.
