I believe you need the SYNC I/O with the machine control option. As that's what I used in another studio. - But don't quote on that

Go here and download the USB driver for the DM2000. Once you have that in there, it's just a matter of creating the devices and putting the DM2000 into "HUI" mode so that its remote layers will act like 3 HUI's in tandem. Also, you might want to check the DM2000 Owner's Manual for more info on setting it up for MIDI control of DAW's. Good luck

It's not very difficult to setup DM2000 to control ProTools.
First connect the DM2000 and your Mac with a USB cable.

On DM2000
1) Go to SETUP-> MIDI/HOST
2) on the right side you'll see the SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu
3) Set the DAW option to USB 1-3 (if you have the USB port connected to some other devices you'll be asked to change the USB port to control your DAW, of course say YES on the dialogue box on DM2000)

On your Mac
1) Install the Yamaha USB driver
2) Open the application "Audio MIDI setup" (it should be on your Hard Disk in "APPLICATION->UTILITIES); you'll see your DM2000 in the MIDI DEVICES window; it should be automatically configured to send and receive MIDI data. If not double click on it, click on "MORE PROPERTIES" and set all 16 channels to send and receive, check also "Clock" and "MIDI Time Code"
3) Close the application

On ProTools
1) Go to SETUP->PERIPHERALS
2) Select MIDI CONTROLLERS
3) on "TYPE#1" select "HUI" and select "RECEIVE FROM: YAMAHA DM2000 Port1" - "SEND TO: YAMAHA DM2000 Port1"
4) on "TYPE#2" select "HUI" and select "RECEIVE FROM: YAMAHA DM2000 Port2" - "SEND TO: YAMAHA DM2000 Port2"
5) on "TYPE#3" select "HUI" and select "RECEIVE FROM: YAMAHA DM2000 Port3" - "SEND TO: YAMAHA DM2000 Port3"
6) Click "OK"

On DM2000
1) Press the "REMOTE 1" button on the LAYER SECTION

Now you should be able to control ProTools from DM2000
If not so, check the REMOTE 1 LAYER->TARGET; it should display "PROTOOLS". If not so you cannot change it from that layer.
Select one of the other LAYERS
Go to DISPLAY ACCESS->REMOTE and configure REMOTE 1 LAYER->TARGET to ProTools
Now you can control ProTools via DM2000.

I'm very happy of my DM2000. It also works perfectly with ProTools as controller.
I'm waiting for the new System 2.0 with 6.1 features and the opportunity to use the DM2000 Joystick to control Surrond in PT.

Like some others here i totally love the DM2000 also as a controller for PT - and 2.0 will make it even better - but:

I work on 9.22 /PT 5.31 - and somebody tested the DM1000 as a controller under OSX (10.2.8) with PT 6(?) and told me that with digital picture (DC-30+ with that special driver for OSX) PT gets very slow as soon as the yamaha driver is active!
Can anybody confirm that? Or write that a HD-2 system with the DC-30+ will work fine? Did anybody test that with a G5 and panther???
