Default access violation 0x00000001106BFFFC

This past week I've gotten the same error message a couple of times:

Access violation occurred, unable to write to location 0x00000001106BFFFC

It's happened when I was doing edits to MIDI. Pro Tools freezes and I have to restart my machine. I use two screen and the right-hand screen (where I keep the MIDI window) suddenly turns gray and the MIDI screen disappears.

Nothing was fatal, although once I had to use the most recent backup file.

If it's relevant, here's the basic specs:

Operating System
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
CPU
Intel Core i7 960 @ 3.20GHz
Bloomfield 45nm Technology
RAM
24.0GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 661MHz (9-9-9-24)
Storage
476 GB Samsung SSD 840 PRO (boot)
2 TB WD Black (storage--where the .pxt files reside)

Any suggestions as to a cause or how to prevent?

This has gotten worse.

None of the backups of this project seem to open without getting the error messages.

I tried trashing my preferences and that did nothing.

I really hope I don't lose a couple of weeks of work.

Do you have any backups of your audio drive? I image mine nightly.

I back mine up automatically every night as well. I already tried that: The last session backup from last night generates the same message.

I tried importing the midi to a new session; that's not working.

I'm wondering whether I can import entire tracks to a new session.

Thanks for your reply.

Update: I tried importing session data to a new session and still got the same error.

Is there anything that I should NOT import? All I'm trying to restore are the midi tracks I worked on. I use a standard template I created.

To his credit, John W of Avid technical support spent 2.5 hours trying to troubleshoot this. He eventually generated DLogs that will be shared with the engineering team.

In the meantime I'll probably uninstall 11 and install 12.4.

Now I have to look on this site for instructions. I know I should use Trasher, but I have to get up to speed on anything else I need to do.

Have you tried opening without plug-ins? (hold shift)

Yes. We tried making all plugins inactive.

At this point, even opening one of templates with no MIDI loaded generates the error message.

Installed a newer version of 11 (11.3.2) and that had no effect either.

Also ruled out any problems with my interface.

While I wait to hear back on Monday I may install 12.4, but I am not confident that will change anything.

For the heck of it I checked Windows Update to see if anything may have been installed that caused a problem, but the last updates pre-date these issues by a full week. So I doubt it's a Windows problem.
