Default Best Interface PT2020

I know everyone's needs vary.

We have been using the TB version of the Clarett 4pre for the last 3-4 years in our mixing suite and it does fine, but occasionally would like to track bands.

What interface is everyone using these days that does what the DiGI003 did in it's day.

8 pre's, 8ch adat in? Also TB3, or USB for the lowest latency?

I'll be using the 16 inch MBP 2019

Your budget would be helpful to know. I am happy with Apogee Symphony mkII

And, how many inputs is enough? Adding an 8 channel lightpipe preamp might do the trick. That could be done cheap(Behringer ADA8200) or my favorite lightpipe pre; the Midas XL48(under $1K and amazing on drums). If that's not enough inputs, and you like what you have, I'd move up within the same product line(8pre or 8preX). Certainly nothing wrong with the Symphony either

low-mid budget range. Some of the UA stuff looks intersting but the larger ones are a little out of my price range.

the presonus tb3 interface looks interesting.

Anyone using this one already?

Been using the Presonus Quantum for some time now and it is a really solid interface with very low latency. Preamps are a little more sterile sounding than the Focusrite ones, but they are still very good.

Sometimes just what is needed. For example back in the day I loved Presonus DigiMax LT because of its sterile preamps, compared to Focusrite. Wanted to use Presonus on stereo micing because of that.
