Default Create Your Own Shortcuts

What is anyone using to create your own Pro Tools shortcuts in Windows 10? I read a couple comments about this recently, but can't recall for sure the content.

PT 12.5
Windows 10

Try AutoHotkey.

I tried AutoHotKey, and got it to work fine in other apps, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to work for me in PT. The macro just doesn't play in PT.

Questions:
1. Can anyone provide a simple AHK script that works in PT 12 that I can model my scripts after?

2. If AHK isn't the best choice, what's better?

The shortcut I want doesn't seem to exist in PT the way I want to use it.

I do voice over work, and in particular, audio books. I need to insert room tone in spaces between sentences to hide the noise breath noises. I have room tone recorded which I put on the clip board. I mark a breath by selecting it with the mouse, then hit Ctrl+Alt+v to just fill the marked breath with room tone from the clip board. The move takes a lot of hand motion. I could save a lot of time over a long bit of text if I could do the whole operation from my mouse. So I'd like to have a button on my mouse dedicated to insert the Ctrl+Alt+v string into the PT character queue. I have worked this out for inserting the string from a mouse button into apps like notepad and word, etc, but the string is just not seen by PT using this method.

I've tried using AHK, triggered by a mouse button, to inject the key strokes into PT, but no joy.

Any ideas?

I have not tried it on PT, but maybe try a Wacom tablet in place of the mouse. I use one in DP and there are a couple of different ways you can program keys strokes. Takes a little getting used to though. Search the DUC or Gearslutz for threads on the Wacom tablets.

"
YourChoiceOfMouseButton::
WinMenuSelectItem, Pro Tools, , Edit, Paste Special, Repeat to Fill Selection
return
"

PT does not accept anything from AHK that contains Alt or Start or AltGr for some reason.
The above code avoids the shortcut with Alt and recalls from the menu directly.

Another way to do what you want to achieve.
Cut the breaths with "X", have a long (looped) roomtone track beneath the narration track (muted during editing),
when finished editing : object-select all edited clips and start-drag over the roomtone track.

I have a couple shortcuts I would like (just moved from PT7 on Mac to 12 on Windows). For starters:

Hide/Downsize Pro Tools
Pitch n' Time Interface from Audiosuite
AutoTune interface from Audiosuite

Export File. There is a probably a way to highlight a file and quickly export it, but I haven't figured it out yet, and if there isn't, I can't imagine living without one, although I guess bounce to disk offline isn't too bad.

That can be achieved with window configurations. Those can be recalled with PT own shortcuts or assigned to a script (i have 10 buttons on a 2nd programmable keyboard assigned to recall window configs, same for 10 mem locs).

Clicking a clip and Ctrl Shift K isn't that bad, or ?
