I am beyond pissed. At what point did Avid feel it was ok to move on to a new release? What I have is still not working on my mac, and on top of that I find out it will be a $1,000 upgrade to go to 10. All I can say is that I have spent the weekend looking at other DAW's. I seriously doubt much will be done with version 9. Where did 8 end, when some people had just purchased it? I'm on 9.0.3 on the PC and 9.0.5 on my Mac (which is garbage). And it is time to go to version 10?!?!?!?! Well, like Cee Lo said in his song... well *uck you!

You could at least call this a 9.4 and charge $75 like in the past. It isn't like we are getting the full 64 bit program...

I worked for Digi/Avid way back when Peter and Evan were at the helm. I've been a PT user since PT4.

It's obscene what Avid is calling a release and making us pay.
A new release with a bunch of features that don't work and features from a previous release that still don't work.

With PT10 being fully compatible for Lion, I would have to think a 9.x version for Lion is coming rather soon.

I'm waiting to upgrade my studio machine to lion on this update.

Also, 9.0.6 is buggy as heck... (see my thread about the s,p, and space issue in file import search). It would be great to get this roll out soon.

Can you pass that along to the other tech nerds at avid please, Digi?

I understand that recent purchasers of Macs are stuck in a void, but I've been there. I went through the exact same issue with 10.5 and 7.4. I had to wait almost 6 months for 7.4.2, and we never got anything close to a beta. Be thankful you even have a version that works at all.

I continued to work on my old PC, and on an old G5 until 7.4.2 was released. Not once did I ever come here to complain. Again, it's not Avid's fault that Apple came out with a new OS with no way to downgrade.

You can come here and complain to tech support all day long... but it's not going to make the update come any faster. It will come when it comes. Be happy when it does. Until then... you have a choice to work with what you got, or work with something else.
+1

And about not "getting involved"... Wow, this is a community forum! I thought being involved was sort of the idea.

Glad to hear that PT9 support will continue, and hoping for a Lion update soon. Anyway, PT9 has been the most stable version ever for me. It hardly ever crashes on my systems. On my MacBook Pro I don't think it has ever crashed.

9 and 9HD on lion (9.05) running fine here beta or not...I also have some on SL and the feel outside the OS is the same if not better.
The HD sticker shock is about the same going from Nubus to PCI, PCI to Mix, now PCI to PCI HDX however the stiff grace period and exceedingly often Cost-upgrade starting with V7, V7.4, V8 V9 V10 is steep.
I like V10 regular (I imagine HD10 but out of reality cost within 1 yr.)
But now the shock of $1K has subsided to a remembrance of getting into a mix system.

Nowadays though this is a tough sell to my music base customers that primarily use large consoles and v8 as a multitrack.
(Even without funding limitations a hard sell indeed)
