So anybody got HD Native with a 2.66 Mac Pro?
I'm HD2 on a Mac Pro 2.66/ Aurora 16 & it works well, really well for what I need which doesn't involve a ton of inputs at once for tracking. I really haven't looked back since I bailed on the 002.
I'm just curious how these things are working on an older Mac Pro. I realize if you're going to go the Native route it should probably be with an 8 core at least. I'm just curious is all on how the Native Card is performing with a Quad 2.66 - if at all Thanks! |

Re: So anybody got HD Native with a 2.66 Mac Pro?
I have an older Mac Pro and it works fine. I run plugs (Waves, SSL, etc...) and Komplete as well. I have 12GB of RAM in the machine and have no real reason to upgrade anything.
Machine runs smooth, everything works as it should. |

I have the same Mac with 8g, 2009. I'm a songwriter and only use the front 2 channels on the Omnie. I have a Duet, and MBox Pro! The HD Native with Omnie sounds huge. A friend of mine has the same setup on a 2.66 Mac 2008.

I'm running native on a 2006 quad 2.66. Runs well for what I do.

Let me ask you this...is recording at 32 samples an option with HD Native and a Quad Core 2.66 machine?
Thanks! |

I dont do any tracking but just for [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]s and giggles I have a 169 track session playing back at 32 samples. I'm an editor so I'm running probably 15 total plug ins. rtas 99% 3 cpu's 46% (aether disabled - that plug in uses 50% itself on 1024!)

Thanks. 169 tracks at 32 samples...nice! Yeah for me I'm probably good where am at for mixing. I've never had that many tracks up but a good amount of plugs. The native thing interests me though...I could get by without the few TDM Plugs I use although I like them, I could certainly live without them but my rig works well as is. If I ever buck up for an 8 or 12 core I'd try Native I think. I'd like to try it now but for my purposes I think it's a lateral move with the stuff I do & a 2.66 Mac. I really haven't looked back since I lost the 002...this thing just works. A few crashes here & there. I'd like to try Native though & see if I could pull up my mixes on it with a Quad 2.66. |
