Looks like Ardour, the software that Tracks Live is built on, has been updated to v4.0.

http://community.ardour.org/node/8725

Windows support, no longer requires the use of JACK. It's also pay-what-you-want. I'll be paying $1 for it, then trying this in place of Tracks Live. If I decide to keep it, I'll donate an additional $98. If not, I'll just stick with PT and Reaper.

The way it handles plug-ins will allow me to run it without scanning any folders, so it will have lighter (and probably more stable) operation for live recording.

Ardour is a full DAW

Tracks Live is built ON it, but as a streamlined task specific application

For its intended purpose, I would trust Tracks Live to be more stable, as less resources are used since there is a lot less active in Tracks Live than in Ardour.

Follow?

Not saying don't look into it or whatever, but, Tracks Live was purpose built and I would be more confident in its overall stability and reduced usage of CPU and resources.

I follow. That info was in my comment.

I have come to the conclusion that Tracks Live is not for me, but plan to do a real-world trial run to determine if the more feature-rich app upon which it is based can serve my needs with a relatively light footprint... Just like I did with Tracks Live.

Cool :) Sorry... just wasn't sure how familiar you were with the differences between them - and also putting it out there for the benefit of others who may be reading through

:)

For sure, no problem. It was actually at your urging that I checked out Ardour in the first place - you mentioned checking the Ardour forums for troubleshooting TL, and I figured I'd take it one step further.

Cool that Ardour is now available for Windows. I always liked the Linux implementation of it. Definitely going to check it out thoroughly.

I am using Tracks Live on PC, Windows 8.1
Almost every time I want to open my sessions, it crashes when loading (progress bar about a 1/3).
I am working with a Motu 828x, recorded 26 tracks.
It doesn't seem to crash when recording just 1 minute, but as soon as I record more than 5 minutes, it cannot open the session anymore.
Anyone seen this, too?

Hi I am currently running Tracks Live as a backup multi Track on an Intel NUC Skull with an RME Madi PCI-E card in a a Sonnet chassis. I also have a Dell XPS Laptop with Madiface XT... Both machines are a backup to our HDX rigs but and currently 8.5 hours into a 156 track record and all good. The only issue is with graphics.. It seems to struggle when scrolling whilst recording, but does play back OK.. Would be great if you could disable wave form writing.
