MIDI Ports "lost " - a simple replication recipe?
1. New session
2. New instrument track (I used stereo) 3. Pick a VI of your choice 4. Now "Save Copy In" and select format as "Session (ProTools 7->9)" 5. Open the copy session (.ptf) and you should find the MIDI port greyed out and inactive I've tried this using a few different VIs and it always seems to disable the port on the .ptf copy. - Can anyone else replicate? - Is this a good enough recipe for the coders to get to the bottom of this pesky issue once and for all? Or is there just something inherent in the .ptx to .ptf conversion that causes this disabling? (There really shouldn't be of course!!) |

Also just tried it with an aux track + MIDI track instead, and the same thing's happened - the MIDI port is greyed out on the MIDI track in the .ptf copy.

Obviously no one round here cares, but this bug also occurs on my laptop which is running 12.8.1, so I've started a case with AVID.

Re: MIDI Ports "lost " - a simple replication recipe?
I’ve had this for years and the mention on Protools expert today reminded me about it. It’s obvious when your drums aren’t playing in the session , less so when it’s a 15th additional pad on the last chorus that’s easily missed.
I think it’s something to do with the connection with where the instrument is pointing to at the initiation of the the VI, and during the session that getting severed somehow, through moving that plugin or trying a different VI option in its place. I can recreate the problem here simply on my system, still in 2018.4 , hdx, Mac 10.12.6 Create new session New instrument track New mini grand in first slot, points correctly to it, plays as expected Save , close reopen is fine. Next Open session Move mini grand to second plug position, still plays (after samples load), back to one, still plays save, close , reopen - now it’s greyed out I guess there’s variations on this "severing" for people who get it during their sessions…. |

I'm also on 10.12.6. The only difference is I'm not running a HD system. tg
