Default El Capitan support - update from Avid needed

This is an open comment to Avid

We user / owners of your USB series hardware (on OSx/El Capitan) have been patiently awaiting an update on hardware drivers. We have not had ANY official contact on these boards regarding where these drivers are in the development process, or whether there is an installation procedure to allow the old drivers to operate.

The only official comments that we users have received have been not to install El Capitan. This is simply not feasible for the great majority of users. There are significant software barriers that require us to update our operating systems to the latest version.

We did not purchase entire systems from Avid (CPU, storage, interface). We purchased the interface only. That indicates that we users will tend to use the CPU for more than audio use, and you cannot reasonably expect us to keep our configurations frozen until you certify. You have an obligation to your customers. Improve your communication and support.

I do not know if one more voice will help but thanks for chiming in. I AGREE - if AVID would just give us a time-frame it would be so much help.

Every year....not surprising at all.

Next January you will be waiting for 10.12 to be qualified, that is unless you realize you don't have to upgrade.

I guess Avid gave up on it's customers. Stock charts reflects it

No the're not! Has been like this since as long as I can remember (and thats quite a long time)

Nothing to worry about and as said millions of times, PT is a small part of Avid and with this new deal with the network TV Stations PT is in the up and up! Stocks have jumped up this past month and things are looking as always.

People can cherry-pick the numbers to say almost anything. Avid has evolved into a very mature high-end niche company. They lost their shirt attempting to expand into hobbyist audio and video. This disappointed the folks playing SillyCon-man Vallee stocks who are now whining about how much Avid's stock has dropped from the time their investments inflated its value. The fact remains that Avid has survived where Steinberg, E-Magic, Neve and SSL have all failed and been acquired by somebody else. Dollar-wise their biggest market is broadcast television which is also their oldest market.

I can't imagine the time frame for new OS support is anything other than ASAP. Unlike other developers they don't claim "support" before they are pretty sure everything is solid enough for professional use as opposed to the SillyCon-man Vallee hobbyist standard of "sort-of" working.

Oh - nice to know that Audient, Steinberg, and all the other interfaces now officially compatible with Macs released over the past four months are only 'sort of working' as opposed to my Mbox which is just not working. Phew, that's okay then. I feel much happier about it now. Thanks.
