Default 2018.12 No new features?

No new features? No development? Avid's new pricing structure is based on that. Not on the bug fix. There is so much to add .... but what does Avid do?

Yeah, pretty disappointing release - I guess they just needed more time, but the last release wasn't exactly feature heavy either.

Just grabbed Studio One 4 again (stupidly sold it a couple of months ago) - Presonus definitely delivers on the features.

And Cubase 10 ausi, even if Steinberg slaughtered the interface.

The last release had ZERO new features.

2018.7 was the last release that had any new features added. That’s almost half a year without anything new added.

I’m all for stability, but this is a bit much.

I can't understand how some people are happy paying an annual fee just to get the things they already paid for.

I never said I was happy paying the yearly fee. It’s quite expensive for an HDX system. But I do need ongoing os compatibility. That I have not been getting and would prefer avid concentrate on that and performance issues before adding more features.

FYI. I just spent a couple of hours tweaking two fairly large mixes I did over the past few days. 2018.10/macOS 10.13.3 vs. 2018.12/macOS 10.13.6. No issues but I wasn’t having any before while mixing.

Recording large numbers of live tracks while playing back a modest amount of reference tracks has been an issue since v 12. I have to set the buffer at 256 which I never had to prior to v12. Most musicians can hear the delay at that setting.

I hope 2018.12/10.13.6 fixes that. Will know next week on the next big orchestral recording.

No one is *truly* happy with the fee, though some will die defending their decisions to pay that fee. Denouncing Avid feels like denouncing them. And others benefit directly from Avid via various official and unofficial partnerships. These things are not revealed in everyone's signatures. So you have to be careful who you believe on both sides of the fence. There's always a motive behind bias.
