ProTools has encountered an unrecognized component and must now exit

Hello!


I've been using ProTools 12 on my laptop for several years without issue, but sometime in the past few weeks, it stopped opening. It goes through the loading bar of initializing plugins and the midi engine, but once the bar fills, it then says "Protools has encountered an unrecognized component and must now exit."


I am also using a PreSonus AudioBox USB96, but that worked without issue for several months.



What I've tried to fix it:
-Restarting my laptop
-Full uninstall and reinstall of ProTools 12, including preferences
-Uninstall of other unused programs, in case something was clashing
-Updating or reinstalling audio drivers
-Checking for plugins that weren't unpacked in their folder


I've basically tried every solution I could find on threads with similar issues, but to no avail.
