What Sample Rates do you do Film Post in ?
Just trying to get a feel for the common sample rates everyone uses. Many plugins do not offer support up to 192kHz, and many of my favorites only support up to 96kHz. Is is common to work at the delivery sample rate, such as 48kHz for DVD?

48k is the standard rate for post production. I would say that 99% of all work is done at this sample rate. There are "pull" factors applied sometimes, but they are centered around 48k.

We've run some IMAX films that have been sound-posted all at 96k (& I assume 24 Bit). You would hear the difference in the mix theatre & oversampling has advantages.48k is still overwhelmingly the standard though... OMF's come in at 48k & a lot of SFX are up-resed to 48 from 44.1 (or recorded at 48k directly). I'd say this will change though eventually. As will 32 Bit rates which more & more apps & plugs are supporting now.

Re: What Sample Rates do you do Film Post in ?
most recordings of film music -- even in my humble place - are done at 96k and then SRC'd to 48 for re-recording. no reason to go abvove 96. AND, if you are good, 24/48 sounds amazing too!
but, yes, especially for big sessions, 48 is better for managing DSP and it is standard and it is good! ...now if we can just get something better than AC-3 on our film prints and DVD's.............

Great to hear. I'll running sessions around 100-125 tracks each. I'll most likely sum it up to 7 or 8 stems, but I'll need that power. Especially with some of the surround reverb plugins engaged - - those things eat so much power!
