Pro Tools won't Playback thru PreSonus StudioLive 24R

I've just installed a PreSonus StudioLive-III 24R rack mixer, replacing my StudioLive 16.0.2 console, which I've outgrown. I like the idea of the rack config because I don't mix live, only needing a 24-input interface to use with Pro Tools.

Pro Tools had no problem working with the 16.0.2 console, but I can't get it to playback through the 24R. PT sees it in the Hardware Setup, Playback Engine, I/O setup is showing 64 channels (32 stereo pairs) in both the input and output, compatible with the I/O in the 24R. The only thing I can get out of the 24R, though, is what's coming in through the inputs. Nothing from Pro Tools.

If anyone has had any experience with this interface and can lend a hand, it would be appreciated.

Are you reading and following the good documentation in "Using Your StudioLive Mixer as an Audio Interface with Universal Control"?

Start with getting one thing working at a time. Starting with a new empty session created with that playback engine selected (to be sure you get all the correct IO path names) and playing back something pre-recorded that you know is good, or just use signal gen.

If the playback engine is selected and you have output on a track going to the correct IO path then a likely suspect should be the return routing within the StudioLive. Are you outputting to the Main Digital return or something else? Make sure the IO paths in Pro Tools look correct and Delete and Default them if not.

Interesting you mention that, because it's been a point of frustration for me. The paragraph you're referring to in the "UC Surface Reference Manual" says:

"Using Your StudioLive as an Audio Interface with Universal Control
Reference Guide: This guide describes the features and functions
Universal Control as well as how to use your StudioLive mixer as
an audio interface with your favorite DAW application."

This sounds like it would explain everything, but there seems to be no such document as the "Universal Control Reference Guide" it refers to. I've looked under every rock, have downloaded a half dozen other reference and user manuals associated with the 24R, but one by that name seems to be hidden pretty well.

I'd love to have it if you know where it is.

ok... that's the one... and I see where I screwed up...

I thought Universal Control Reference Guide was the name of the manual, and that Using Your StudioLive as an Audio Interface (with) was just explaining what the guide named Universal Control Reference Guide was for.

I was barkin' up the wrong tree... dang...
