Default M Box 2 Headphone Latency!!

Im buying a new computer for my M Box 2 to run Pro Tools LE 7.0 smoothly....It's 2 Gig of ram an 1 250 gig harddrive an 1 500 gig hardrive...Dual Proccesor 1.8..Im wondering will i still have Headphone Latency? It kind of throws off my recordings..I want to be able to hear myself in the headphones as i go an be able to turn the vocals up in my headphones without the vocals peaking? Will i be able to do all this? Thank You

Your buying a new computer to handle the "headphone latency" with your Mbox?? I'm afraid you will still have the same problem until you get some Mbox recording basics down. You need to mute the track you're recording on and adjust the mix knob.

Also, your post is a bit confusing, you are talking about headphone latency and "vocals peaking" which are two different things. More info is needed.

I am not buying a new computer for headphone latency. Im buying a new computer to run Pro tools smoothly. Im just wondering what should i do to get rid of the headphone latency, on my vocals especially. I also want to be able to turn my vocals up in the headphones so i can hear them better without making them peak? Is that possible?

Cool, but the term "smoothly" can mean many things on a computer. What is your current rig doing exactly that you dont consider "smooth". Underpowered? Cant get enough plug-ins etc? Errors?

See my post above for the answer, or go straight to the Mbox 2 basics guide...Controlling latency during monitoring. But, this will also depend on which Mbox2 you have. Is it the Pro, Mini or regular?

More than one approach for this one which would also depend on which Mbox2 you have. A place to start is to turn everything else down.

I find this a problem, too.
You say Mute the track but if that's done I wouldnt be able to hear myself at all.

...and turn the Mix knob on the Mbox. It's all in the documentation. My link is to the exact page in the PDF. I cant make it any easier than that. Click and read.

The Mbox mini still has a mix knob for zero-latency monitoring.

yes.

also while recording you will probably want to decrease the h/w buffer size in pro tools to 128 samples.
