Connecting external effects via S/PDIF.........
Im thinking of picking up a tc electronic effects processor, and was wondering how I would go about setting up the connection between the effects unit and my 002 rack(6.9.2). Thanks

Re: Connecting external effects via S/PDIF........
What I mean is how do I set a channel to send the signal through the effects processor. Ive never used S/PDIF before and im just trying to get my head round the whole concept.

Re: Connecting external effects via S/PDIF........
After you've set up the S/PDIF connection under the hardware setup it'll show up in your inputs and outputs, so you'll be able to select it there and route the signal as you would with anything else.

Re: Connecting external effects via S/PDIF.........
It's easy to do. I've been using a TC ELectronics M2000 with a Digi001 for a couple of years +. SPDIF. You can insert either SPDIF channel anywhere you want, or go stereo on the master fader.

Re: Connecting external effects via S/PDIF.........
You can use RCA S/PDIF or toslink optical audio S/PDIF cable (only one or the other -- not both at the same time -- unless for ADAT) as an insert (where you pull up a plug-in -- just use I/O) or as a send & return. It depends if you want to use the TC Electronics processor as a global effect(s) or just on one channel. There's a few different ways to affect wet/dry. Be wary of latency and phasing in some instances. PT's defaults to RCA S/PDIF I/O so you'll need to change in harwdare set-ups if you're using toslink cable. You can send & return signal at 24Bit/96kHz (if your processor will accept 96kHz). You should use internal clock PT's source (don't clock off the TC Electronics unit). Have fun!
